The Plymouth Summer Festival

Plymouth Short Breaks

'Golden Week' : 11-17 August 2009

If you’re looking for an action packed week’s break then clear your diary and head to Plymouth in August for seven days of top entertainment.

Our Golden Week captures the spirit of the entire Plymouth Summer Festival, with massive free public entertainment, race action on the water and great theatre and food.

August 11 and 12 will see thousands of people gather around Plymouth’s Hoe and waterfront as the skies above Plymouth Sound explode with colour for the British Fireworks Championships.

Watch some of the world’s top racing yachts and crews sail into the city (expected August 11) as they dash for the finishing line off Plymouth in the challenging Rolex Fastnet Race.

Top theatre entertainment is provided by the sultry West End classic Chicago at Plymouth’s Theatre Royal.

And Plymouth becomes food heaven as the City Centre is transformed into a bustling continental style market for Britain’s biggest and best farmers market, Plymouth Flavour Fest, August 14 – 16, this year accompanied by Dining Week, a series of themed food events and offers in restaurants across Plymouth.
